User summary

Storyloft View mode is the read-oriented 3D constellation for worldbuilding—ideal when you want to see how lore clusters after linking fields and Connect edges. Authors searching for World Builder constellation or “Open in View” use this mode to navigate large worlds without editing every edge. Build substance in Collect, wire relationships in Connect, then use View to explore and present the shape of your setting.

What it does

View renders connected lore in a force-style 3D graph. Toolbar filters match Connect (Filter types / All types). Empty states: No connections yet. Link fields, tags, or relations in Collect / Connect to grow the constellation. or filtered No connected lore matches the selected types. Caps may show Showing {n} of {m} nodes… Zoom controls include Fit graph to view. Focus URLs /manuscripts/{id}/loreboard?focus=POST:… or WORLD_ELEMENT:… auto-switch to View.

Steps

In Collect, link fields/tags; in Connect, draw relationships so the constellation has edges to display.

Step 2 — Switch to View mode

Click View in the World Builder mode switcher.

Step 3 — Filter the constellation

Open Filter types to show only certain lore types. Clear filters when you want the full web again.

Step 4 — Navigate with zoom and fit

Use Zoom in, Zoom out, and Fit graph to view to frame clusters. Click nodes to open detail drawers (or Technology Tree for tech).

Step 5 — Jump from Collect with Open in View

In a Lore post drawer, click Open in View. Storyloft focuses that node in View (often via a focus query in the URL).

Copy a URL with ?focus= when you want to return to the same entity later. Opening it lands you in View on that node.

Step 7 — Return to Collect or Connect to edit

View is for exploration. Switch modes to add lore or change links when the constellation reveals gaps.

Tips

  • If View is empty, add relationships—isolated cards alone may not populate a constellation.
  • Use type filters when Showing n of m nodes warns the graph is capped.
  • Pair View with Lore Match: explore structure, then write with cards nearby.
  • Tech nodes open Technology Tree from the graph when appropriate.

FAQ

How do I open View mode in Storyloft?

In World Builder, click View in the Collect / Connect / View switcher.

Why does View say no connections yet?

The constellation needs linked fields, tags, or Connect relationships. Build those in Collect/Connect, then reopen View.

What does Open in View do?

From a lore drawer, Open in View jumps to the constellation focused on that post or world element.

URLs with ?focus=POST:id or ?focus=WORLD_ELEMENT:id open World Builder in View centered on that node.

Can I edit relationships in View?

View is exploration-first. Use Connect to draw or remove links, and Collect to edit fields.

What’s the difference between Fit graph to view and Connect’s Fit view?

Both frame the graph; View’s control is labeled Fit graph to view specifically on the 3D constellation toolbar.
