TL;DR
Lore Update keeps manuscript text aligned when you change lore in World Builder. Choose Yes on first run (or set Settings to On), edit lore, then open the editor when you see Lore Update queued. Resolve uncertain spots in Eddy’s Lore review with Yes / No / Show me, then Apply selected.

User summary
Storyloft Lore Update bridges World Builder and the manuscript: when a character’s name, trait, or linked field changes in Collect, Storyloft can find and update matching prose so you are not hunting every chapter by hand. Authors searching for automatic lore sync or “Lore Update queued” use this workflow—with an Eddy Lore review step when matches are uncertain. It is different from Lore Match cards (which surface lore while you write) and from asking Eddy to rewrite in free chat.
What it does
When enabled, saving lore in World Builder can queue manuscript rewrites. You may opt in on Collect’s empty-state card (Easy peasy. No rewrites needed. / Update the lore in my manuscript automatically when I update lore here. → Yes / Maybe later) or via gear Settings switch (Update manuscript lore automatically — On / Off). After a change, toast Lore Update queued offers Open editor. Confident updates toast Lore Update with a Revert action; ambiguous hits open Lore review in Eddy for per-occurrence Yes / No / Show me and Apply selected (N).
Steps
Step 1 — Enable Lore Update
In World Builder Collect, if you see the first-run card, click Yes. Or open the gear → Settings and set the automatic lore switch to On. (Maybe later or Off disables the workflow.)
Step 2 — Edit lore that appears in your manuscript
In Collect, change a field or name that already shows up in the book (for example a character label). Save the lore post/item.
Step 3 — Watch for Lore Update queued
Toast Lore Update queued explains Storyloft will apply change(s) across the book. Click Open editor (or open the manuscript yourself).
Step 4 — Review confident updates
If Storyloft applies clear matches, you may see Lore Update describing what changed, with Revert if you need to undo.
Step 5 — Resolve Lore review in Eddy when asked
If matches are uncertain, Eddy shows Lore review with old → new values and occurrence counts. For each place, click Yes, No, or Show me. Click Apply selected (N) to write accepted changes, or Dismiss all to skip the batch.
Step 6 — Keep writing, then verify Continuity
Skim affected chapters. Use Lore Match overlays (if enabled) to confirm cards still align with the new lore values.
Step 7 — Turn Lore Update off if you prefer manual edits
In World Builder Settings, switch automatic updates to Off, or rely on having chosen Maybe later earlier. Future lore saves will not queue manuscript rewrites until you turn it back On.
Tips
- Prefer Yes on first run if your manuscript already uses the same names as Collect.
- Unset preference behaves like enabled until you explicitly opt out—choose intentionally.
- Large renaming passes: apply review in batches and Revert if a confident pass misfires.
- Lore Match helps you see lore while writing; Lore Update writes lore changes into prose.
- Parent-field cascades can batch related field updates—review carefully before Apply selected.
FAQ
What is Lore Update in Storyloft?
It is the workflow that queues manuscript text updates when you change World Builder lore, with optional Eddy review for uncertain matches.
What do Yes and Maybe later mean on first run?
Yes turns automatic manuscript lore updates on. Maybe later opts out (disables) rather than snoozing forever-and-asking-again.
Where do I find Lore review?
In the manuscript editor’s Eddy panel when an ambiguous update is pending. The card title is Lore review.
Can I undo a Lore Update?
Confident applications may offer Revert on the success toast. For applied selections, use editor undo/history if needed and fix remaining spots manually.
Is Lore Update the same as Lore Match?
No. Lore Match shows worldbuilding/research cards while you write. Lore Update pushes Collect edits into manuscript text.
Why didn’t anything queue after I edited lore?
Confirm Settings is On, that the value actually appears in the manuscript, and that you saved the lore item. Then open the editor to process the queue.
