Create and Edit Lore in Storyloft Collect Mode

TL;DR

User summary

Collect mode is where Storyloft World Builder authors build the lore library—characters, places, rules, media references, and more—before mapping relationships. Searching for how to Add Lore in Storyloft leads here: create typed cards, edit fields that can link to other lore, organize with groups and tags, and keep research notes attached without leaving the manuscript’s world. Strong Collect data powers Connect graphs, View constellations, Lore Match while writing, and Lore Update when details change.

What it does

Collect supports:

  • Cards and Table layouts
  • Add Lore overlay with World / Space type grids
  • Create sheet fields: Name, One-liner, Tags, Subtype, custom Fields with Value or link lore…
  • Add to board CTA and detail drawer (Lore post / Manage Lore Item)
  • Group filter (All groups, buckets World, Media & notes, Other)
  • Media shortcuts: paste URL → link/video; drop image → image card
  • Linked Notes with Add link
  • Technology & Science types that open Technology Tree instead of a simple card

Steps

Step 1 — Open World Builder → Collect

From the editor, open World Builder. Ensure mode is Collect.

Step 2 — Choose Cards or Table layout

Use Collect layout toggles: Cards or Table. Table adds World / Space realm tabs and per-type grids with inline editing.

Step 3 — Start Add Lore

Click the + floating button (Create post). The overlay title is Add LoreWhat are you adding? You can choose cards from multiple categories. Pick World or Space, then a type card. (Selecting Technology & Science opens Technology Tree—see that guide.)

Step 4 — Fill the create sheet and Add to board

Complete Name, One-liner, optional Tags (comma-separated) and Subtype. Add Fields with Add field; in values, type text or Value or link lore… to search existing lore (Search lore…). Regenerate or Upload Thumbnail if shown. Click Add to board. Toast: Added to board (world items suggest viewing connections in Connect).

Step 5 — Edit from a card or table row

Click an item to open Lore post. Update group (Group / None), tags (Add a tag…), fields, then save (Save post). Use Open in View to jump to the constellation focus. Delete with confirm Delete this post?

If you see Manage Lore Item without a board card, click Add to board. Under Linked Notes, click Add link, Search notes…, and attach Library or Manuscript notes. Empty state explains notes stay unchanged in their libraries.

Step 7 — Filter groups and add media quickly

Open Filter by group (All groups) to narrow World / Media & notes. Paste a URL or drop an image onto Collect to create media lore without picking a type card first.

Tips

  • Link field values to other lore early—Connect and View grow from those links.
  • Wait for thumbnails (Wait for the image to finish before closing) before dismissing create sheets.
  • Table Add / Add {Type} is fastest for bulk worldbuilding.
  • Saving world posts notes that the View graph node updates with fields.
  • Changing field values can queue Lore Update for the manuscript when that workflow is on.
