User summary
Storyloft Connect mode turns Collect lore into a visible relationship graph—who reports to whom, which location holds which artifact, which fields point at which entities. Authors searching for Storyloft relationship mapping or “Connect nodes” use this 2D canvas after building cards in Collect. Clear links also feed the View constellation and help continuity tools understand structure beyond isolated cards.
What it does
Connect is a React Flow canvas of lore nodes. You filter types (All types / Filter types), draw edges from blue handles, and configure links in the Connect nodes sheet (description pattern: Link {source} → {target}…). Buttons include Connect, Connect (N field(s)), Cancel, Remove link, and Auto layout. Empty state: No lore nodes yet. Create world elements in Collect… Footer hint explains drag-to-connect and Delete/Remove link. Large graphs may show Showing {n} of {m} nodes.
Steps
Step 1 — Build lore in Collect first
Add world elements in Collect so nodes exist to connect.
Step 2 — Switch to Connect mode
On World Builder, click Connect in the mode switcher.
Step 3 — Filter types if the canvas is crowded
Open Filter types (default All types), select the types you care about, or Clear. If nothing qualifies: No lore types with items yet.
Step 4 — Drag a connection between nodes
Drag from a blue handle on the source node to the target node. The Connect nodes sheet opens. Wait through Loading fields… if needed.
Step 5 — Associate fields and confirm Connect
Optionally check fields on the source to associate with the target (hints may show Current: values or already-linked notes). Click Connect or Connect (N field(s)) (Connecting… while saving). Use Cancel to abort.
Step 6 — Remove or rearrange links
Select an edge, then click Remove link or press Delete/Backspace. Click Auto layout to tidy positions. Use Zoom in, Zoom out, and Fit view; the minimap helps navigation on large boards.
Step 7 — Open nodes for detail or tech trees
Click a node to open its detail drawer (or Technology Tree for tech types). Return to Collect anytime to edit fields that power new links.
Tips
- Field links created in Collect also appear as graph relationships—connect both ways of thinking.
- If the empty state persists, click Refresh after adding Collect items.
- Cap notices mean filters can help you focus a subgraph.
- Prefer meaningful field associations over unlabeled edges when the sheet offers fields.
FAQ
How do I connect two lore items in Storyloft?
Open Connect, drag from a blue handle on one node to another, configure the Connect nodes sheet, and click Connect.
How do I delete a relationship?
Select the connecting line and click Remove link, or press Delete/Backspace.
What does Auto layout do?
Auto layout rearranges nodes into a cleaner graph layout without deleting links.
Why can’t I connect anything?
You need Collect world elements first. Empty copy tells you to create items in Collect, then drag between handles.
Can I connect items that have no fields yet?
Yes. The sheet may say the source has no fields yet but you can still create a relationship and add fields later while editing lore.
Is Connect the same as View?
No. Connect is the editable 2D relationship canvas. View is the 3D constellation for exploration.
