Set a Custom Book Card Background in Storyloft

TL;DR

On Books, open a book’s ⋮ → Cover Background. Click a cover thumbnail to apply it to the card, or Use default (No Cover) to reset. If you see No covers available, click Create cover first.

User summary

Storyloft book card backgrounds let each manuscript show its cover art on the Books dashboard so series and libraries are easier to scan. Authors searching for Cover Background use the book overflow menu (paid/active plans). The setting changes the card appearance only—it doesn’t replace Cover Creator files used in ebook export or print.

What it does

  • Menu item Cover Background
  • Modal title Cover Background with description to choose a cover or reset
  • Empty: No covers available for this book + Create cover
  • Use default (No Cover) / thumbnail No Cover
  • Toasts Cover Background updated / Cover Background reset
  • Selecting a cover applies immediately

Steps

Step 1 — Open Books

Go to sidebar Books.

Step 2 — Open the book menu

On the target book card, click (requires eligible plan).

Step 3 — Choose Cover Background

Click Cover Background.

Step 4 — Create a cover if needed

If empty, click Create cover to open Cover Creator, design/save a cover, then return to Books and reopen this modal.

Step 5 — Pick a cover thumbnail

Click the cover you want for the card. Wait for Cover Background updated.

Step 6 — Or reset to default

Click Use default (No Cover) (Applying…) for the plain card look.

Step 7 — Confirm on the dashboard

Close the modal and verify the book card shows the new artwork.

Tips

  • Use the ebook front that best represents the title at thumbnail size.
  • Same menu also holds series and delete actions—don’t confuse them.
  • Card background ≠ print wrap design, though it can use the same saved cover.
  • Free/inactive users may not see this menu.
