How to Compose Scene Illustrations in Storyloft

TL;DR

In Illustrations → Scenes, select a book, pick up to six items under Your Assets, describe the tableau in Describe your scene…, and submit. Review Iterations, Reset to start over, or paint a mask and describe changes for regional edits.

User summary

Storyloft scenes combine your saved characters and artifacts into one illustration—ideal for chapter openers, story moments, or marketing stills that match established designs. Searching for Create Scenes or “Select up to six assets” leads to /illustrations/scenes. Building Characters and Artifacts first makes Your Assets useful; empty libraries cannot compose rich scenes.

What it does

Scenes includes:

  • Empty guidance: select up to six assets, then prompt
  • Your Assets with {n}/6 Selected
  • Prompt Describe your scene… (or mask-edit placeholder)
  • Iterations queue with Reset
  • Mask tools Small / Medium / Large, undo, Hide controls / Show controls
  • Shared Image Settings and Roll the dice!

Steps

Step 1 — Prepare characters and artifacts

Create and Save the people/objects you need under Characters and Artifacts for the same book.

Step 2 — Open Scenes and select a book

Illustrations → Scenes (or Create Scenes). Choose Select a Book / Select Book.

Step 3 — Select up to six assets

Under Your Assets, click thumbnails (Variant images) until the badge shows your count out of six. Preview area shows selected imagery when available.

Step 4 — Describe and generate the scene

In Describe your scene…, explain action, setting, lighting, and mood. Submit with the send icon (disabled without a book). Optional: set style via palette Image Settings or Roll the dice! for variation.

Step 5 — Review Iterations

Open Iterations to compare outputs. Expand/collapse the list as needed. Click Reset to clear and Start a new scene with a prompt below (toast Scene reset).

Step 6 — Mask-edit a region (optional)

Paint the area to change (brush Small, Medium, or Large). Prompt with Paint a mask then describe the changes… and submit. Fix errors like No editable region by drawing first. Mask iterations may label Mask edit.

Successful scenes appear for the book in Gallery → Scenes. Insert into the manuscript via Manage Images.

Tips

  • Fewer, well-named assets beat six vague selections.
  • Mention relationships in the prompt (“holding the artifact,” “facing left”).
  • Credits apply to scene generations and mask edits.
  • If assets are missing, confirm you saved names on Character/Artifact profiles and selected the same book.

FAQ

How do I create a scene in Storyloft?

Select a book, choose up to six assets, describe the scene, and submit the prompt on Illustrations → Scenes.

Why can’t I select more than six assets?

Scenes cap selection at six ({n}/6 Selected). Deselect one to add another.

What is mask editing?

You paint the region to change, then describe the edit so Storyloft regenerates only that area.

How do I start over?

Click Reset in Iterations to clear the current scene session.

Do I need both characters and artifacts?

No—but at least one saved asset helps. You can still prompt, yet asset selection is the point of Scenes.

Where do finished scenes live?

Under Gallery for that book (Scenes tab) and in editor Your Images → Scenes.
