User summary
Storyloft collaboration lets coauthors and editors work in the same manuscript—commenting, drafting, and reviewing without exporting Word files back and forth. Searching for Add Collaborator or Invite Collaborator leads to the editor toolbar popover (typically for the manuscript owner). Invitees receive email and accept on /invite/[token], including new users who create an account during acceptance.
What it does
- Toolbar tooltip Add Collaborator opens Invite Collaborator
- Fields: Email address, Role (UI exposes Editor), button Invite / Inviting…
- Lists Current Collaborators and Pending Invitations (Expires date)
- Actions: remove collaborator, Resend invitation, Delete invitation
- Accept page: You’ve been invited to collaborate / Create account & accept invitation → Accept Invitation
- Books cards may show role badges such as editor or viewer for people already on a book
Steps
Step 1 — Open the manuscript as the owner
From Books, open the book you own. Collaborator invites are owner-controlled via the API even if the button renders in the toolbar.
Step 2 — Click Add Collaborator
Use the toolbar Add Collaborator (userPlus) control.
Step 3 — Enter email and role
Type the invitee’s Email address. Choose Role → Editor. Click Invite and wait for Invitation sent successfully.
Step 4 — Confirm pending status
Under Pending Invitations, verify the email and expiry. Use Resend invitation if they didn’t get mail; Delete invitation to cancel.
Step 5 — Have them accept the invitation
They open the email CTA Accept Invitation, review manuscript title/role, complete name fields if creating an account, and click Accept Invitation / Accepting….
Step 6 — Manage Current Collaborators
After acceptance, the person appears under Current Collaborators. Remove access with the remove control when collaboration ends.
Step 7 — Collaborate in-editor
Share expectations for Comments vs Notes. They sign in via passwordless email when returning later.
Tips
- Use the invitee’s real inbox—magic links go there.
- There is no “copy invite link” control in the popover; invites are email-based.
- Viewer-looking badges on Books may exist historically; the invite UI sends Editor.
- Remove access promptly when a project ends.
