Searching for Add Comment or the Comments sidebar leads to the editor toolbar panel and selection bubble menu. Steps
Step 1 — Open your manuscript
From Books, open the book in the editor.
Step 2 — Select the text to discuss
Highlight a sentence, paragraph, or phrase that needs feedback.
Step 3 — Click Add Comment
In the selection bubble menu, click Add Comment. When prompted with Enter your comment:, type the feedback and confirm.
Step 4 — Open the Comments sidebar
Click the toolbar Comments control to review all threads for the manuscript.
Step 5 — Reply to a thread
Open a thread, click Reply, type in Write a reply…, then Send (or Cancel).
Step 6 — Delete a thread when finished
Use the trash control on the thread to remove it if your workflow does not need to keep the discussion.
Step 7 — Return to writing
Close or switch panels as needed. Invite collaborators with Add Collaborator if others should leave comments too.
Tips
- Keep comments specific—select the exact span you mean.
- Resolved may appear on some threads as a status badge; there may not be a separate Resolve button depending on build.
- Comments ≠ Notes (research) ≠ Book Versions (snapshots).
- Exit Focus Mode if the Comments control is hidden.
