Steps
Step 1 — Create art in Illustrations (recommended)
Build and save characters/scenes under Illustrations for the same book so Your Images is populated.
Step 2 — Place the cursor in the manuscript
Open the book from Books. Click where the image should appear.
Step 3 — Insert from Your Images
Open Manage Images (select text for the bubble menu, or use the left vertical menu). In Your Images, pick a tab, then click the image—Storyloft inserts it immediately.
Step 4 — Or upload a file
Choose Upload Image, drop/browse a file (max 10MB), wait for ready, click Insert Image.
Step 5 — Or generate from selected text
Highlight a descriptive passage, click Generate an Image. If nothing is selected, toast asks you to select text. Fix issues like Selection Too Long or Banned Word Detected if shown.
Step 6 — Optional: set Image Style before generating
Open Image Style / Image Settings so generated editor images match your book style.
Step 7 — Manage inserted images
Hover the image for Download Image, Manage Images, or Remove Image. Delete library assets carefully from Gallery or Your Images delete confirms when cleaning up.

- Prefer gallery inserts for cast consistency; use generate-from-selection for one-off moments.
- Very long selections may fail—shorten the highlight.
- Image generation uses credits.
- For print export, confirm image placement in Page view after inserting.
