What it does
From Book Controls → Publish, the Editorial Review card describes manuscript-wide reviews across story, content, writing, accuracy, technical quality, and publication readiness. Opening review enters a focused mode with:
- Left panel — six categories: Story Review, Content Review, Writing Review, Accuracy Review, Technical Review, Publication Review
- Right panel — Review Results with searchable findings
- In-manuscript highlights colored by category
- Editorial Score with guidance: Resolve findings to move closer to 100
- Fiction / Nonfiction book-type selector
- Actions such as Start, Rerun, Generate Fix, Apply Fix, Fix All, Correct, and Reject

Steps
Step 1 — Open Editorial Review from Publish
Open your manuscript from Books. In Book Controls, click Publish. On the Editorial Review card, note any Editorial Score, then click Open Editorial Review.
Step 2 — Confirm Fiction or Nonfiction
At the top of editorial mode, set Fiction or Nonfiction (Book type) so category guidance matches your manuscript kind.
Step 3 — Start a category review
In the left list, choose a category (for example Story Review). Click Start. Status may show Running, then Complete (or Failed / Needs refresh). A toast like Story Review started confirms launch. Repeat Start or later Rerun for each category you care about.
Step 4 — Read your Editorial Score and progress
Watch Editorial Score update as findings resolve. Progress may show Analyzing manuscript… then Reviews complete. Category rows can show open counts and percentages.
Step 5 — Browse findings in Review Results
On the right, use Review Results. Search with Search findings…, filter by Urgency or Editor Highlights, and click a finding to scroll to the highlighted text. Severity badges include Critical, High, Medium, Low, and Info.
Step 6 — Correct, reject, or generate a fix
Open a finding’s detail. Under Review and correct:
- Click Correct when you fixed it yourself
- Click Reject if the finding does not apply
- Click Generate Fix for AI options, preview with Preview, then Apply Fix (toast: Fix applied)
Step 7 — Use Fix All for batch assistance (optional)
Click Fix All ({n}) to walk assisted fixes (Assisted review {n} / {m}). Use Skip or Exit Fix All as needed. When finished, turn Edit Mode appropriately to return to normal writing chrome and continue drafting.
Tips
- Run Technical and Publication near export; run Story / Writing earlier in revision.
- Needs refresh after big edits means you should Rerun that category.
- Eddy is better for open-ended rewriting; Editorial Review is better for tracked issue lists.
- Empty states (No findings for this category / Select a category…) are normal before you run or select a category.
- Finish review before print Publish or ebook export so last-mile issues are caught.
