Steps
Step 1 — Open Spell Checker
In the manuscript editor, click the toolbar Spell Checker control.
Step 2 — Run Check Spelling
Click Check Spelling. Wait through Checking spelling….
Step 3 — Review Total issues
See the count and browse issue groups/tabs. Click findings to jump to highlights in the text.
Step 4 — Apply suggestions
Use listed Suggestions to fix problems, or edit manually in the canvas.
Step 5 — Adjust Rule Settings
Open Rule Settings. Choose a quick preset (Strict checks everything, Balanced skips niche rules, Minimal keeps core grammar/spelling). Show/Hide sections as needed. Tip: Re-run after changing settings.
Step 6 — Re-run after edits
Click Re-run to refresh highlights once you’ve fixed batches of issues.
Step 7 — Clear highlights when finished
Click Clear to remove issue marks, then continue drafting or open Editorial Review for a deeper pass.
Tips
- Run Spell Checker before big exports.
- Creative prose may intentionally break rules—use Minimal or dismiss niche lints.
- Editorial Review is broader (story/publication); Spell Checker is line-level language.
- Focus Mode may hide the panel—exit Focus to open Spell Checker.
