Steps
Step 1 — Open Format
Open your book → Book Controls → Format.
Step 2 — Create a list
Place the cursor (or select lines). Under Lists, click the bullet or numbered list icon. Add items line by line; toggle the icon again to leave list mode.
Step 3 — Indent list items if needed
Use Indentation → Indent (Tab) / Outdent (Shift+Tab) to nest levels.
Step 4 — Insert a styled quote
Click Insert Custom Blockquote (Format) or Insert Quote (selection bubble). In Insert Quote, paste the Quote, optional Source, pick Size and a Quote Style, then Insert Quote (or Cancel).
Step 5 — Adjust a quote after insert
Hover the quote to resize S/M/L or cycle styles when those controls appear.
Step 6 — Use Sources for citations
In Format Sources, choose the book or web citation template that matches your reference, then complete the flow into your manuscript/endnote practice as prompted.
Step 7 — Combine with headings and exports
Keep lists/quotes inside clear chapter structure, then export ebook/print when ready.
Tips
- Prefer Insert Quote styles over plain typing for pull quotes that should match themes.
- Clear quote text with Clear in the dialog if you start over.
- Hyperlink UI is richer in the Notes editor (Links / Enter URL) than in the main manuscript Format tab—don’t expect an identical Links section here.
- Insert Page Break before major quote spreads when using Page view.
