Authors searching for Add Endnote or View Endnotes use the manuscript Contents tools—not the Notes library. Steps
Step 1 — Place the cursor where the reference belongs
Open your manuscript and click in the sentence that needs a citation marker.
Step 2 — Click Add Endnote
In left Contents, use Add Endnote (+). Storyloft inserts a superscript reference and opens Add Endnote.
Step 3 — Write the citation content
Fill **Content ***. Optionally use Web Source or Book Source templates, add links via Enter URL:, then Save.
Step 4 — Manage the list with View Endnotes
Open View Endnotes. Search with Search endnotes…, edit an item, or delete (confirm Delete Endnote).
Step 5 — Edit from an in-text reference
Hover a superscript → Edit endnote to update that note.
Step 6 — Insert Sources templates (inline)
In Book Controls → Format → Sources, click the book or web icon to drop a citation template into the manuscript, then fill author/title/URL fields in the text.
Step 7 — Create an endnote from Eddy research
In Eddy, after research results appear, open a card and click Create endnote (pre-fills citation) or Copy citation to paste manually.
Tips
- Numbered endnotes and Format Sources templates solve different jobs—don’t confuse them.
- Use consistent citation style in Content for export cleanliness.
- Imported endnotes may show an Imported badge.
- Delete carefully—confirmations warn it cannot be undone.
